August 2020 Newsletter
Greetings Rising Dragon Martial Arts family!
It has been really exciting this last month to have finally returned to in-school classes as well as broadcasting all classes via the internet. We have had approximately ½ our students come back to in person and several still training with heart and body at home. We have tried to improve our online classes with a Bluetooth mic that has greatly improved sound quality. We still occasionally experience lag and some stutter, but these have improved as well.
In class we follow many safety features: masks for those not experiencing breathing problems (as per the current city regulations), all contact is optional, and we are still practicing more distancing, cleaning off all touched items each class, cups instead of the water fountain, hand sanitizer after any contact, etc.
Students seem to be still learning well under these guidelines, and we are all having a great deal of fun and exercise. We’ve had several new students join our family in this second month back in-school and we welcome them wholeheartedly.
Very important – our schedule for the rest of summer is full expanded class hours with the exception of the Monday and Wednesday advanced youth classes which meet for the rest of summer on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 along side the adult class. This will likely go back to its original time starting in the Fall.

This has been a season of challenge for all of us while we work to balance supporting our family and making it feasible for all our students to keep attending classes either online or now in class. And while our usual 3 or 4 demonstration events did not happen this summer, we are planning a major event later this Fall with special seminars, out of town teachers, and lots of fun. We are thinking of also not waiting for Spring to do our annual tournament – but do one this Winter!
Again remember we see the school as a second family and will work with you so that all can continue to join and practice Pai Lum! We look forward to seeing you here or in the virtual training floor! Best wishes, peace and safety.

Here’s what you need to do for online training:
1. Clear a training space in front of your computer or device so that you can practice the material. At least 10 square feet should work.
2. At the time of your class log on to www.bluejeans.com, click on Join Meeting, type in the ID 4143837727. You can also simply go to our home page of www.risingdragonmartialarts.com and there is a join now link on the top of the page which will instantly transport you to training.
3. Make sure your mic is muted.
4. Listen and follow the moves that we are teaching. Then practice them as we look at each of you.
5. Students are welcome to watch and practice the material from other age classes to help review or learn other things. However our focus of correcting will be only on those of the age group we are currently scheduled for. But in this way you can train 60 or even 90 minutes if you wish. You can also join the tai chi or other classes as you wish.
6. All students are asked to make a payment of $59 or $69 (adults) for this online class training for the month to support our school and family. Those with additional family members who are students are asked to pay an additional $39 for each one. Go to our home page and follow the link to online classes and you can make payment there at www.risingdragonmartialarts.com or just give us a call and we can process credit and debit cards over the phone at 414 383 7727.
7. Uniforms or proper t-shirts mandatory in school and encouraged but optional online.
8. Enjoy, exercise, learn and stay connected to your Rising Dragon family! We know in these uncertain times that it is all the more important to stay unified and connected, to find moments of joy and hope and to continue to become ‘a warrior with compassion.’
Thanks to all our students who are our extended family – we look forward to seeing you on the online training floor!
