The Dragon Breath (Grandmaster Pai’s Dragon Code Series continues)
The Fourth and Final Stanza of the Dragon code reads: “But as a dragon I must go forth / To seek the Tao and the Void / Understanding myself / And finding peace within.” This final stanza of the poem begins by reminding us of our identity –We are dragons. In a world full of people lost as to who they are, it is a good remember our identity. We belong to a school (Rising Dragon) and a path (Pai Lum) and a people who are like-minded (fellow practitioners). And with our identity comes a duty—to keep going forward (always learning) and seeking the way to go and they way not to go in life — the Tao and the Void. Along the way we may learn from others as well as in the field of life, and from wisdom and truth from the teachings, such as the Book, the Bible. This seeking brings us direction to pursue balance of growing in body, mind and soul. In this way we gain better understanding of who we are and what makes us unique and can pursue the Path even deeper. All this leads to a destiny: to find peace within. And if we find harmony in our soul with our Creator and with ourselves, this peace also leads to peace in the world and our relationships. What a beautiful poem full of deep meanings from Grandmaster Pai. If you have memorized the poem as we require all beginners to do – then continue to meditate and re2ect on it. Perhaps you will nd it brings you a wonderful identity, duty, direction and destiny!
