No Classes

Wednesday December 31 and Thursday January 1  Happy New Years!

Teacher’s Seminar (Part 3)

Thursday January 16 teachers will go through the last part of their teacher manual Business – Impacting and Maintaining Excellence. Learn how to build, run and maintain a school. Unique Training offered from 5 -5:45. Then partake of the Potluck of Yum (every teacher brings something) prior to having fun and hands-on training!

Keep Classes Healthy

As we enter Winter season there may be more flus and colds. If your child is showing symptoms of chronic cough, fever, runny noses, etc. then please keep your child home from classes so as not to infect other children. If uncertain of conditions then have the potentially sick child wear a mask. Thank you for your support of our schoo- we love teaching your children respect, self-defense, better health and safety. These measures will help us all!

Lost and Found

The year is at end and anything in lost and found must be claimed by January 7 or it will be forever lost!

Testing

Friday February 27th – Block 1 Testing (3 p.m. advanced / 5 p.m. beginners).     Awards Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. Be sure all books turned in at least 3 days before test along with payment. Full uniform with patches worn!

The Dragon Breath

(Grandmaster Pai’s Dragon Code Poem Series Continuing)

The second stanza of the dragon code reads:
My Brothers and Sisters Are / My Heart and My Mind
Even Though We Disagree with Each Other

We Still Strive To Be One
Here Grandmaster Pai calls us to see our fellow Pai Lum practioners as family members. What happens if we really see others as brothers and sisters? We treat them differently – often with more warmth, love and grace. And who doesn’t want to be treated that way? Imagine going to classes where people are interested in your life, invite you to their homes and share their food  – where people smile to see your presence. People long for “home” and many may not have had an enriching one as a child, so having fellow students in your hearts and minds as brothers and sisters is a beautiful calling of the Dragon Code. To have them in your mind means to ‘think’ about them from time to time. To have them in your heart means to care about them.  It doesn’t mean you have to agree – or even like everyone in class — but simply to love them as our White Lotus Code teaches:  “Love: I will serve others rather than be served.” Still showing respect and putting others first is a genuine love far better than just “liking” or “not liking.” If we all arm ourselves with that attitude we will strive together and be one. Hello my brothers and sisters!  Have a wonderful new year and Sigung Melodie and I look forward to you sharing in our kung fu home in 2026!
